Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrive in Kiev. Transfer by bus to the comfortable Rus Hotel.
Welcome dinner in the hotel restaurant.

Breakfast in hotel.
Bus sightseeing with English speaking guide.
We visit St Sophia Cathedral, have lunch at a local restaurant and visit Lavra Caves and Monastery.
Some free time for shopping.
In the evening we transfer to Kiev Passenger Railway Station to join our comfortable 'Dzherelo' train.
Dinner on the train.
Overnight transfer to Odessa. |
Day 3:
Breakfast on train.
Arrival at Odessa for a sightseeing tour by bus and on foot.
Lunch at a local restaurant before taking a short cruise by the boat "Khattzibey" on the Black Sea.
Dinner on the train.
Overnight transfer to Zaporozie.

Day 4:
Breakfast on train.
At Zaporozie we have a sightseeing programme by bus including the magnificent hydroelectric station there.
We then move on by bus to Khortitza Island, where we see a horseback riding performance by the famous Cossacks.
Lunch today will be at a local restaurant offering the national cuisine.
Late afternoon we return to our train for dinner and overnight transfer to Sevastopol. |
Day 5:
Breakfast on train.
At Sevastopol Railway Station we are greeted on the platform by the Black Sea Navy Fleet Ensemble before taking a bus sightseeing tour.
We take a short cruise of Sevastopol Harbours, which used to be home to the Russian Black Sea Navy Fleet.
Lunch is again at a local restaurant.
We will visit the site of the Crimean War 1864-1865 and the scene of the famous "Charge of the Light Brigade".
Excursion to the ancient Greek town of Khersones, before transferring by our bus to Yalta, having dinner at the traditional 'Miskhor' restaurant on the way.
Accommodation in Yalta will be at the "Oreanda Hotel". |

Day 6:
Breakfast in the hotel.
Today we have an excursion to "Swallows Nest", the scene of the Yalta Conference in 1945, where Stalin, Churchill and Roosevelt divided up Europe between themselves.
We then travel on to Livadia Palace, the summer residence of Tsar Nickolay II.
After this is wine tasting, sampling some of the little-known, but delicious, produce of the area before lunching at a local restaurant.
We return to Yalta, where some free time is available before taking dinner at a traditional local restaurant.

Day 7:
Breakfast in the hotel.
We transfer by bus to Aloopke town to view the impressive Vorontsov Palace.
After spending time here we transfer by our bus to Bakhchisaray, lunching on the way at a local 'Tatar' cuisine restaurant.
At Bakhchisaray we visit the Crimea Khan Palace and a cave monastery.
Here we rejoin our train.
Dinner on the train.
Overnight transfer to Vinnitsa.

Day 8:
Breakfast on train.
Bus sightseeing tour of the town before we visit the location of the Hitler "Wewolt" headquarters during WWII.
We return to the train for lunch, while transferring to Ternopol, where we have a foot sightseeing tour of this pleasant area with a local guide.
Dinner on the train.Note-steam loco shown opposite just been taken out of service-now Diesel locomotive.
Overnight transfer to Kolomiya (Carpathian Mountains). |
Day 9:
Breakfast on train.
Here we enjoy the scenic rail journey to Rakhov in the Zarcarpatier region of the Carpathian Mountains.
At Yaremcha, about half way along the line, we will stop to visit the local market close to the station, where souvenirs can be purchased.
If the weather is good we will stop for a picnic in the mountains close to one of the railway stations and do a few runpasts with thetrain for those who would like a nice, nostalgic photograph of the 'hotel on wheels'.
On arrival at Rakhov a bus will be waiting to take us to Berlebash, where there is a monument marking the geographical centre of Europe.
Photographs may be taken to commemorate your visit to this spot.
Return to train for dinner.
Overnight transfer to Lvov. |

Day 10:
Breakfast on train.
We have a bus sightseeing tour before transferring to a vintage tramcar for a short run across the city.
There will be a short tour on foot of the historic centre before adjourning to a local restaurant for lunch.
Free time for shopping.
Return to train.
Farewell dinner.
Overnight transfer to Kiev. |

Day 11:
Breakfast on train. Bus transfer to Kiev main square for shopping. 11.30 am bus transfer from Kiev to Airport. |

Notes: The train is comfortable with Restaurant,Bar Car and Sleeping Cars.Shower and toilets at the ends of each car.Each Car has its own attendant.There are no en-suite bathrooms as no such Cars exist in Ukraine.
Please note that entertainment is provided every night of the tour in the Bar Car.
The train also carries a Doctor and two security staff.
Tea, coffee and mineral water are free at all times.
